AI, GEO and PR – What Public Relations Pros Need to Know
Curious how AI and GEO are changing PR? Join the PRSA GA Independent Counselors group on Thursday, October 30, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM for a virtual meeting to learn about these trending technologies and how to put them to work for you.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Define Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and explain how it differs from traditional SEO in the context of AI-powered search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews.
2. Identify 3-5 ways AI is actively transforming PR workflows, from media monitoring and content creation to crisis response and measurement.
3. Explain why traditional PR tactics (press releases, media pitches, website content) need adaptation for AI-generated search results and how visibility is shifting from search engines to AI platforms
4. Apply GEO principles to optimize client or brand content for AI-generated responses and summaries.
5. Evaluate AI tools currently available for PR professionals and determine which are most appropriate for their specific practice areas (media relations, content creation, analytics, etc.)
6. Implement at least one practical AI or GEO strategy within the next 30 days to improve their PR outcomes
We’ll network online for fifteen minutes, then Emma Loggins Sprinkle, Founder/Director of Strategy at Excite Creative Studios, will share how these tools are helping PR Practitioners create content, drive media awareness, and gain coverage for clients.
In addition to her work with Excite, Emma is also the Founder and editor-in-chief of FanBolt.com, where she is positioned as an expert on geek culture, from film and television to fan conventions and travel. Through the site and her social media, she also works as an influencer on sponsored campaigns for brands such as Warner Bros., Universal, Autotrader, Visit Scotland, AT&T, Target, Coca-Cola, and more.
She has spoken on panels at SXSW, Dragon Con, and TAG, and has also been a contributing writer for CNN’s Geek Out Blog. In 2016, Emma launched an additional brand, Women’s Business Daily, a website targeting millennial female entrepreneurs to motivate and inspire them. The site features articles that focus on business and brand development, work-life balance, lifestyle content, and how-to guides. In addition to a wealth of content, the site also features a membership community for women seeking to define their own success.
